Economics of Kabeela

So far during the Income Generating Activities sessions, we have been working on explaining basic economical concepts such as production costs, income and the benefits such as interest and capitol. We then tackled any concerns or confusions the women had with these notions. The women said they find these sessions particularly useful because they are very relevant in their everyday lives as the majority of women at Kabeela work for themselves alongside making small profits from selling products through Kabeela. At the end of the session, we staged a market place scene so the women could practice the various economic concepts that were discussed – from the purchase of materials to create a product, through to the manufacture, sale and use of profit for practical investments such as transport means for ease of selling before saving the remaining money in either a bank or safe.
